Human Garbage and Maybe Hope

November 17 2008

Greetings my Dear Readers,

It hasn’t been a bad week, interesting, but not bad.

I was talking to the mother of a young man I used to work with as a small child.  Although I’ve seen him a few times over the years since last working with him, I’ve apparently missed a lot.  This young man is now 17 years old and dating a 28 year old woman and his family is pissed.  Now from his perspective I fully understand what he is doing, He’s young, hormones; older woman, which I’m sure makes him the envy of all his friends.  Now a 28 year old woman dating a 17 year old teenager although questionable and morally debatable is technically perfectly legal as the legal age of full consent is 16.  Regardless of your view on this, the age difference here is not the real problem here, it gets better.

This young man as mentioned above is 17 years old and in Grade 12, this year is critical for him if he wants to graduate, however since hooking up with this older woman he has been to school 4 times in the last 3 months.  He can basically kiss his graduation good-bye.  Now as an older woman she knows how difficult this world can be and if she had any decency she would be pushing him to go to school and at least graduate grade 12. Apparently not.  But it gets even better...  Not only is he throwing away his education but he is also playing Daddy and raising her two young children, the oldest of which is not much younger then himself.  This young man is kind, caring and gentle hearted and because of the kind of person he is these children will become his life.

I think we can all see the writing on the wall here.  He thinks he’s in love and sadly when this woman is done with him she’s going to throw him aside and shatter him mentally and emotionally.  If and when he recovers from that, his attachment to her children will likely haunt him for the rest of his life, and there is nothing anyone can legally do about it.  All we can do is try and talk some sense into him.  Other than that we’re stuck sitting back hoping he doesn’t actually have a child with her.  Or...  Maybe she’ll prove us all wrong and its real and it will last, but somehow I seriously doubt it...

This week I also stumbled across someone who has always meant the world to me, but sadly have not seen for many years.  Will a reunion be possible?  We'll see

Until next time,

Your ColdHeartedBastard,

D.
